SPC baseball kicks off with a 9 inning double header

On January 28th, 2012, St. Petersburg College’s men’s baseball team kicked off it’s season with a 9 inning double header. The first game was against Miami Dade (5^th in state). Steven Negron and Lincoln Dunham each had 3 hits while Chris Chism was brilliant out of the pen going 3 2/3 allowing just 2 runs. But that was not enough as the Titans fell to the Sharks 7 to 3.

Game two was against Broward (7^th in state). Corbin Hoffner and Sawyer Wilson kept the Broward bats silent with 13 strikeouts over 8 innings. A tie ball game after 9 innings, the team rallied together starting with a Casey Jennings lead-off double in the top of the 10th. Aggressive base running put Casey on third with 2 outs as Kolbe Andrade stepped up to the plate. With two strikes on him, Kolbe put a sharp ground ball in play guiding Broward to a defensive error and a Titans lead. Bruce Wong shut the door in the bottom of the tenth collecting his first win on the season, and the first Titans victory.

January 24 Men’s and Women’s basketball rankings

As of Jan. 24, the SPC men’s and women’s basketball teams are still ranked in the Top 10 within the Men’s and Women’s Coaches Polls from the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA).

The men’s basketball team is ranked No. 10 with a 11-7 season record after its 63-54 win over Hillsborough Community College. The next home game is against State College of Florida Saturday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m.

The women’s team is ranked No. 6, with a 20-3 season record after a 63-59 OT win over Broward College. The next home game is against Palm Beach College Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m.

On January 25th, 2012, St. Petersburg College’s men’s basketball team stomped Hillsborough Community College 63 to 54. Our Titans are now (12-7, 1-0) for the season. The highlight stats from the game were as follows:

Lady Titans squeak by Broward College

The St. Petersburg College women’s basketball team defeated Broward College 63-59 in an overtime win on Saturday January 21^st. A key steal and a pair of free throws by #21 Thomia Wadley in the final seconds of the game clinched the victory. This win puts the Lady Titans at an impressive 20-3 record. The team will look to protect their undefeated (10-0) home court record against Palm Beach College this Saturday, January 28^th.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams still are ranked in the Top 10 in the state in the Jan. 17 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls from the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA).

The men’s basketball team is ranked No. 10 with a 10-7 season record after its 64-55 win over Miami Dade College. The next home game is against Hillsborough Community College Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.

The women’s team is ranked No. 7, with an 18-3 season record after a 86-68 win over Miami Dade College. The next home game is against Brevard College tonight at 5:30 p.m.
